which is the same as 

get $path

And for the faq of it...

answer shell("help")

or

repeat for each line x of shell("help")
  get it & cr & cr & shell("help" && word 1 of x)
end repeat

answer it

and if you like 8.3 names, 

  put shell("dir /X")
