Memory question, old MC versions

Doesn't destroyStack or destroyWindow clear memory?
I've never actually used either of these so do be
carefuly (the names alone are certainly intimidating!).
But i do get the impression that that is the function
of those two commands - clearing out memory when you're
done using a stack.
